MOTIVATION

“Magic of Motivation”


   “Motivation is one of the keys to success. The inducement to the people to contribute as effectively as possible is called “MOTIVATION”.

As rightly said by Mr.Mike Cudaly (President-Marquette)-

“You have got to give people a voice in their jobs. You have got to give them a piece of the action and a chance to excel. You have got to give them the freedom to have fun.”


Leading is the process of influencing people so that they will contribute to organisation and group goals. People assume different roles and there is no average person. While working towards goals, a Manager must take in to account the dignity of the whole person.

Motivation is not a simple concept; instead motivation pertains to various drives, desires, needs, wishes and other forces. Manager motivate by providing an environment that induces Organisation Members to contribute.

1.    Manager is required to recognise need of the people and choose option to motivate as per their need.
2.    Motivation helps in reducing stress which occurs within individuals, resulting better performance at work.
3.    For effective Motivation, Manager should have good professional as well as personal relations with the people.
4.    Effective communication, pleasant environment and friendly conversation help in Motivating people.
5.    Recognition and awards for success should be part of company policy to motivate people.
6.    Manager should support in developing will to win among people by Motivation from time to time.
7.    Some times word of appreciation only works as Motivation.
8.    Team Members should be awarded based on their performance only and non performers should be kept aside for any award. Non performers may be motivated other way to get them turned in to Performers.
9.    Manager should support in building people’s self confidence.

10.        Providing required recourses is an important factor to get performance from people.
11.        Manager should be available for guidance and support in with team to achieving target. 
Self Motivation


Self Motivation is a process which may be adapted by an individual without waiting for any kind of Motivation from any Source.

·         Set goals for yourself and do not loose site of it.
·         Set long term objective but achieve them with short term goals.
·         Make your job a different one. Set improvement objectives and achieve them.
·         Analyse your weaknesses and covert them in to strengths. You may become an expert in your field soon.
·         Review your task your self and award your self for your success. You may go for outing with your family and or friends to celebrate your success.
·         You can enjoy your hobby and be relaxed for one day to charge your self for next task.

Five basic rules for getting things done from others


  1. Try to know likes and dislikes of your people. This way you can choose right option for the right person. For example a person may not require money but if you give him or her Money to motivate that will go waste.
  2. Give your people credit for their work. It is said that credit should go to team and failure in account of Manager.
  3. Be frank and friendly with your people. Apply humour at work place and maintain humble environment.
  4. Get your team enthusiastic by showing your own excitement in case of success. Provide them Psychological support.
  5. You should maintain self respect of your people. Help them in enhancing their self dignity and encourage them to take initiatives.
